Someone I know was speaking to the folks at Federal during the Shot show, about the lack of primers available in the market place. The Fed. guy says that they are 1.5 years behind in production and that they are so busy with military contracts right now for ammo, that they don't have time to manufacture more primers for the consumer demand. So looks like CCI and Rem and Winchester will be our choices in primers for the forseeable future. FS

I just picked up 6000 primers today....just a note.....Le Baron's in Mississauga is now out of Winchester large pistol primers with the exception of one open box of 1000, and is running low on Winchester large/magnum rifle primers :D.....I favour Federal, but I've never had any real problems with Winchester stuff. Might as well stock up. Who knows what's going to hapen with Obama as the prez down south.

mmm interesting I found the exact opposite... I went looking for winchester cci and came back with federal it was the only brand the wholesalers had in stock... remingtons been out of the game for some time winchster told them they arnt really interested in components right now... I wasnt able to find anything else other then federal and the price was quite high.

Guess I'm going over there tomorrow...lol

well that sucks. Most of my loads were developed with F210M primers, I guess I'll have to go with the others. thanks FS

Phoned up Higginsons (my usual source for components) yesterday, they are pretty much out of primers other than small pistol magnum, and they reckon it will be months before they have some more in.Powder is also out,I wanted some TG,also quite a few months wait there.

Looking at the US sites,it seems that people there have been stocking up like crazy not being sure what the new administration attitude to guns will be.Add this to the ongoing war in Iraq and it seems that components will be a bit thin on the ground in the next while.Another good reason to get a 22!

If anyone cares, I ordered some 210M primers yesterday from Lawry Shooting Sports, and they were at my door today. $31/1000.

They also carry IMR, Hodgdon, and Alliant powders...

A $15 fee doesn't make the shipment any safer, maybe UPS doesn't charge them, due to high volume?

Anyway, who cares if they use UPS, its not my problem. And the box said Federal Ammunition right down the side...

No shipper HAS to charge a Hazmat fee. The do so at their own discretion if the feel the need to recover costs.
