New to reloading...is there a difference in rifle primer sizes between European ammo and North American ammo. I.E.. 308win vs 8x57 mauser? Is there a chart that explains this?

Boxer-primed cases should all take the standard primer sizes, regardless of where they come from. Chances are, this is all you will be reloading, unless you have some special application, for which only Berdan-primed cases are available.

Berdan primers come in their own series of sizes that are different from the Boxer ones, besides the fact that they are meant to be loaded into Berdan cases.

It is kind of a two step process. You need to look up the primer size first on this chart for example. The 8x57 Mauser is a LR or Large Rifle. Then you can look up here to see what your various choices in LR are. LR and LR Magnum are the same size. Controversial subject as to whether or not there is much difference between LR and LR Magnum.

Thank you sir!
