Hi Folks...just a question as i'm not sure...i know that i should use 4f powder to prime the flintlock, but will 3f work in a pinch...just trying to locate some 4f now...
i have been shooting flint for 30 years + use 4ffffg , if you can get it ,, but 3fffg works fine 2ffg works fine too,,, i love the smoothbore flinter to me its far better experience than any other b.p. gun ,,, wade
Never had an issue with 3F myself,a ll I use. I have also read in the olden days most guys didn't have the luxury of having two different sizes of powder, something to thing about.
The finer the better as in being slightly faster and easier to ignite but they will all work. Black powder substitutes are most certainly not included in this statement.
Using 3F for both charge and priming can make life simpler in many situations.
