Prince Edward County introduces Sunday gun hunting this fall

Congratulations to Prince Edward County's municipal council for recently voting in favor of new Sunday gun hunting opportunities that will begin in that area starting this fall.

"The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters always appreciates the opportunity to speak with council members in municipalities across the province. We would like to thank all of those dedicated O.F.A.H. members and friends, in particular local resident Kelly Baverstock and her family, who clearly understand the multiple benefits of additional hunting opportunities. We also respect council members in Prince Edward County for their thorough consideration of all public inpu t into this matter," said Greg Farrant, O.F.A.H. Government Relations Manager.

With the support of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ontario Federation of Agriculture, Sunday gun hunting has been a long-time initiative of the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters. In the past 18-months, over 100 municipalities across southern Ontario have voted in favor of the O.F.A.H. proposal for Sunday gun hunting as a means to provide more recreational time during regular hunting seasons. It also provides much needed opportunities to help manage local wildlife, particularly deer, that cau se millions of dollars in agricultural losses, as well as accidents on our highways and country roads.

The O.F.A.H. is Ontario's largest nonprofit, nongovernment, fishing, hunting and conservation organization that represents over 80,000 members and 655 member clubs. For a map of new Sunday gun hunting opportunities, visit www.ofah.org/Sunday.hunt.

Wow!!

Just imagine, what a progresive, daring, far out province to be giving a try at a (in a small area) of Sunday hunting.
There has never been any Sunday hunting restrictions in BC, ever. We hunt seven days a week, if we so desire, anywhere in the province.

Let me guess.... your mad at us because we have more damn liberals ...
By the way we learn to spell in Ontario in Grade Two.:p

Sunday Hunting has been legal in most of Ontario forever. It is only a few Southern areas that have some local restrictions. This is thankfully changing very rapidly to allow Sunday Hunting in almost all of these areas over the last two years!:)

I work all week, so I can only get out on the weekends. With so little time off I can't aways get out back on a Saturday. That's usually the day that my wife wants to do something (not involving shooting unfortunately). Opening up Sunday hunts here will give me more time in the bush... can't wait, it's about time
