Britain's Prince Harry achieved a "perfect result" during target shooting yesterday (07.03.12) when he visited the Jamaican Defense Force at the Uppark Camp in Kingston.

The Army Captain - who was named best gunner in his apache helicopter training group last month - scored 39 out of 40 as he shot at a target from 30metres using a M4 Rifle, with the other shot straying "marginally outside" the maximum scoring area as he visited the Jamaican Defense Force at the Uppark Camp in Kingston.

Earlier Harry, wearing combat fatigues and an army beret, tried an indoor simulator before taking to the firing range.
He also enjoyed a private breakfast with members of the force and was able to catch up with an old friend, Lt Kayon Mills, who had trained with him at Sandhurst in the UK.

Harry hugged the soldier and felt his bicep, asking: "Still working out?"

He then told other soldiers: "This guy used to be enormous, he used to work out so much."

Lt Mills said: "At Sandhurst he was one of the guys - hardworking, always giving 100 per cent, he knew when it was time to work and when it was time to celebrate."

Harry had been due to join an abseiling session but amended his schedule following the news of the deaths of six British soldiers in Afghanistan.

An aide said: "The prince doesn't want to take part in a military activity which would be deemed peripheral to an apache pilot on this day when the focus for the British Army should be on its core professional roles and looking after the bereaved of those tragically killed in Afghanistan."

I thought Jamaica used the SA80 as their standard arm? Did they change? Also, there's no mag in the magwell, I suspect he's looking at the empty mag on the ground and wishing his SA80 back on the island did that.

30m isn't exactly super far away... With a properly dialed in optic most gun owners should be able to keep it inside 4" with no duress or time limit. 39/40 is an intersting score though. Wonder what the course of fire was?

Most gun owners don't have millions of people watching their every move. Toss in the pleasure of cameras rolling, exceedingly high expectations and grandma's crown on your hat and I think the pressure would be a tad bit more than your average 100 yard plinkfest.

The kid wants to be a soldier but wears the burden of royalty. Good on him, I say.
 
From time to time Canadians from CSOR go train with the Jamaicans. Last fall RCAF SAR Techs and helo crews helped cover for unavailable rotary lift capacity. I wonder how many other CF influences have been taken on by the Jamaica Defence Forces lately?
 
Guys they were shooting from 30 meters? Ya ok. Plus if you were in the military and Prince Harry shows up for a photo op, would you not throw one just out of the score ring as well? The same way the Olympic runner threw the race to him. Never a good idea to make a visiting member of the Royal family look bad. They might not care but your ranking officers trying to kiss posterior sure will.

Good to see him shooting though.
 
JDF sends officers to RMC and they get to do Basic, BMOQ-L, Phase 3 & Phase 4 Infantry. They pay big bucks to get them trained in Canada.

Fixed that for you. It is called mutal aid. We train the JDF pilots at Southport and it is/was at Canada's expense. Unless it changed rencently.
 
Don't know about the air force but this program is through RMC via the Infantry School. Their govt's paid for this. I had a Mongolian Captain & a JDF Lt in my Pl. This program is marketed to several countries and it generates income for RMC. Don't know how long you've been out, but before you correct someone know your facts.
 
You know, I saw a poll not too long ago where a majority of Canadians said that if the monarchy could skip a generation and go straight from elizabeth to the grandkids, ignoring prince charles entirely, they'd support remaining a monarchy.

As a guy who is generally a republican (and a member of Citizens for a Canadian Republic) I have to admit I would tend to agree. I kind of like the two brothers. They seem all right.
