Yes a prism scope is perfect for people with astigmatism's. At least in my case.
I have pretty bad astigmatism in both eye's. Driving at night is a no no for me if I have no idea where I am going.
Headlight's, street lamps, glare all look like 50' multi-pointed stars. If I'm real tired they are even bigger and worse.
If it's raining at night. All hell breaks loose.
Hoping that eye surgery will help out this summer.

To my point.
I picked up a Vortex Spitfire 3x and I think it's a godsend for some of us.
The reticle is crystal clear whether I have it in green or red.
Absolute no starring, bursting or misshaped halos.
I wish someone had a camera on me when I first looked through it as I bet the smile on my face was something similar to Christian Bale in Batman. LOL That happy/evil grin that says "look out mothaf***ers"!!!

Spendy yes.
After I get my eyes fixed and hopefully no astigmatism will I stick to it rather then a red dot?...Don't know.
But I wanted to reiterate and hopefully help anyone who is in the same boat as me or who runs a search here that Prism scopes are a winner for us optically challenged.

I wish that optics manufacturers would spend a little bit of effort in discussing this on their websites and literature. Many people, myself included, had no idea they had astigmatism or what that even meant and thought that their dots were crappy.

OP, let us know what type of surgery youre getting and how effective it was. This is useful info for the community

What about eotech sights, do they work for the original poster or anyone else with a slight astigmatism? I have the 1x version of this prism scope, but I need something with more eye relief for a gunsite scout.

Will do. Am going through some unexpected health issues lately. Totally messed up my summer. Can't move 10' without getting tuckered out. Hopefully things get better soon cause I have 4 firearms that have yet to be shot.

I haven't had the chance to look through an Eotech. If I remember correctly from all the research I did depending on how bad your astigmatism is some of the higher end red dots would work fine or with a slight fuzzing around the dot.

My astimatism is on the more severe side of the spectrum and when I was playing with an Eotech in a store I determined that it is even worse than any standard dot I tried.

Imagine an 80 moa firework imposed over a bloodshot eye, or those plasma balls at the science center.

Thanks for your post. I am currently dealing with the same problem. I have a brand new strikefire 2 and thought there was something wrong with the red dot, looked a little wonky/ broken up. Returned it to guelph , got a new one returned home same problem. I have since confirmed through my optomerist that I have a mild astigmatism. I tried the scope after putting on my distance / t.v. watching glasses, and was 99% better. I have since researched this at length , and am going to try and upgrade to the vortex prism either 1x or 3x magnification. That I would think will make it 100 %. I had no problems dealing with Vortex, quite the contrary, great people to deal with, refreshing dealing with company this day and age that puts the customer needs 1st and foremost. Heard a lot about Vortex and their lifetime guarentee, but now have experienced it first hand.
I hope in the future there is more discussion/information put forth in the shooting community regarding astigmatism and target shooting red dots.

My luck is getting worse with my eyes.
Went and got an eye exam for a new prescription and was told I have a progressive eye disease called Keratoconus(thinning of the Cornea).
Optician told me I was no longer eligible for Lasik and my heart sank. Felt like the first time a girl broke up with me.
I've had glasses since I was 20 and hated them ever since.

I need to get some second opinions on the eye surgery though cause the Lasik page says they can still do the procedure but they have to test.
I'm pretty sure even if I had a slim chance that I would do the surgery.
