Happy with the initial out of box review. Smooth like they say.

I don't see the appeal with this action at all. Hopefully it performs well for you but seems like an easy pass with the current offerings out there

You can’t knock it without trying it.
It could be the next best thing.
I would prefer to see a built in recoil lug and rail but I think thats pretty unrealistic at this price point.

I’m going to say that I agree on the recoil lug, but for me, I want the ability to change rails. Depending on what caliber you build it in this allows you to choose a 0 MOA, a 20 MOA, or whatever you need for your chosen purpose. Definitely going to have to keep my eye on these, because as you mention, that’s a pretty good price. Also waiting to see if it is actually a drop-in 700 footprint, or if like some others out there it will require modifications to work.

I'll stick it in a few stocks tonite to check fitment. I like ability to change rails...recoil lug integral would have been nice. The 90 bolt throw...cocking is very easy and smooth, all on open. Feels a bit lighter then my tl3.

Lugs are cut to same diameter as the bolt...guessing this adds to how smooth the action runs. Will have to see how it handles under match conditions. Waiting on a bbl nut but I'll throw in a stock and do some testing

Agreed, looks basic and based off pics and vids of mfg process I’m iffy. Also why need 6 lug? For the calibers offered, these ain’t no 50bmg

Looks good!

Are those (plus optic) all the pieces needed to complete the rifle, or does the shopping list include any other incidental bits if someone wants to build one like it?

Sounds like a nice build. Is your action made in Canada?

Not sure about earlier, but now they're manufactured right here in good ol' Chilliwack B.C.... Same as MDT and IBI. If we could get someone making triggers here they'd all be made within a 10 minute drive of each other!!!!

I'm no PRS guy, but Pristine did bring one of their builds out to a DSSMatch back in July. I know some of the PRS guys made an issue of the 90 degree bolt throw, but this was WAY smoother than any other rifle I've shot in my 50 years, including my Ruger Precision and Steyr SSG-69. I think it's worth a look.

I got a chance to handle a couple when I took some photos for them a while back. Definitely a nice unit and smooth as hell. Downside was no lefties but I believe they announced its in the works so I hope to be able to test one out one day next to a tikka.

I contacted them a couple times about a long action. What I got out of it was that they put it on the back burner.

Yeah when I talked to them it seemed like they are focused on the PRS shooter which seems to be all short action stuff. I'm not 100% sure but that seems to be the catered crowd these days. With the 223 and 308 bolt faces. (I personally want a magnum bolt face)

I picked one up about a month ago and it seems smooth enough and I like the fact it fits in 700 stocks as well as 700 triggers, they are well priced and do have a pinned lug so swapping barrels shouldn't affect bedding.

It would be nice to see a long action as well as a magnum bolt head but not a deal breaker for now , I like the sako extractor and the way the diameter of the bolt would seal gas from a case failure and no way the extractor could blow out because of it

I don’t want to piss on anyone parade, but Ultimatum Action are made in Canada are are a know performer..
Hopefully this new action will prove itself too.

Cadex are as well, and they have a 60 deg bolt. We have a few in Canada now, and some great barrel manufacturers as well as stocks. All we need now is someone to make primers, and bullets in Canada. I think IMR powders are Canadian as well.

I still have some Matrix VLD Bullets that were made in B.C. when they were still around.. performed similar to berger VLD's in the rifle I shot them in. I thought I read that J4 jackets became itar controlled so that probably spelled the end. Chinchaga (sp?) bullets are also made in Canada.. not sure if they're still around.. their facebook page is still up.
