Priv 120 gr Jacketed Hollow Point Bullets for Reloading.

I like the PPU 6.5 120 hpbt and have gone through 300 or so, shot less than an inch for three at a 100 M consistently in the Grendel and seems to be well suited to it.
For 36.00 a hundred and a pound of powder filling over 200 cases they're cheap fun.

Encouraging, thanks!

NS = Neck Sizing?

I am newbie to reloading and will be reloading new brass 6.5x55 Swede for wife's Christmas gift a German Krico Bolt Action (1-9.5 twist I believe). Using Nosler Accubond LR 140 Gr bullets.
Did you use a separate neck sizing die and mandrel or your FL Resizing Die and just pass neck sizing portion of the die thru neck of the cartridge?
Did you trim your new brass to all the same length before seating the bullets?
How much clearance from throat to lands did you seat your bullet?

Thanks for the input.

Hi everyone,

I am just getting back into 6.5 x 55 after a long time without. For basic sighting in and playing I have ordered a couple hundred of these bullets from Tradex, and am wondering if anyone has any experience with them. I will be starting with 43 gr. of IMR 4350 powder over Magnum Primers, and will be checking seating depth relative to my chamber before setting up OAL. The Rifle is a new Zastava M70 Mauser with a 1:9 twist rate.

I figured the 120 HPBT would have some extra weight for reaching out for ground hogs, and be OK for a bit of paper and breaking in the barrel.

Anyone have any experience with these bullets in any of your rifles? Accuracy? Issues?

Any info would be appreciated.

Very nice rifle!

Yes, brass will be trimmed to length. Fired brass from your rifle will be fire formed to your chamber. I bought a set of used RCBS dies, and is is not reducing the neck enough (I think it's worn out as the sizing ball is already undersized). I will be using a collect die from Lee to neck size my reloads. My dies have just arrived, but I have not had time to try them out.

I use Forster and Redding NS dies pretty much exclusively, not the bushing type, just the standard type. No complaints here with their performance.

Well, I finally got around to setting up my Collet die set; and my issues are gone!!

I already had the brass sized and primed using the RCBS die, so I removed the depriming pin from the neck sizing die and sized the necks. I bottomed the die against the shell holder. I set up the new seating die to 3.010 COAL (optimum for the new rifle). Bullets seat easily, and are secure lengths are varying less than .0001 (so the bullets are consistent in shape, and I also already checked that they are consistent in weight.

I made up 40 at starting load for initial sight in and accuracy testing, and will be making up another 20 each at 1 gr. increments higher up to maximum for test day.

If you don't have a set of collet dies, consider getting a set. I am already very happy with them!!

Happy shooting!!

Mark
