For bear defence?? $hit, I sure hope you have an AR in .50B!? A .223 would only serve to piss off most of the bear I have seen where I play! I'd say bring ur AR for plinking and keep ur 45-70 close! Good luck!

Amen! Our dogs brought back a pair of bears, one of which charged us three times, getting as close as 15 yds. I had my 50-70 Sharps carbine with me and had faith that it would stop the bear.
Had I had my Mini 14 with me, it's 5 rd magazine wouldn't have given the same reassurance, even at 15 yds.

You did it wrong, AR reclassification threads are typically done on Thursdays. Mondays are normally about shooting into space.

A .223 would drop a black bear no issue. 1 shot. Wouldn't even take a few steps. Even against a Grizzly bear a .223 would still take it down. A follow up shot may be required with any caliber.

AR going NR? That will never happen in my opinion. Because no matter how hard we argue with idiots. They don't believe us, they believe in people who are very smart. Have knowledge and wisdom when it comes to what is right and wrong for us "regular people". Politicians, like the California governor. Who gave a very informative speech on ghost guns and its ability to shoot 30 caliber magazine clips in less than half a second. How do I beat that guy? He is on tv telling the world about this gun, even I got a little scared of guns after that. A gun that is a ghost!!!! and it can shoot 30 caliber magazine clips in half a second. You could end the world with such a weapon.

P.S. If my sarcasm is not clear you need a ghost gun pointed at you and unloaded LOL

Every time ,I take my XCR to the range ,somebody usually says that it's restricted. When I then explain,why it's not restricted, they look and say ,why is the AR restricted then..... Most people have no clue why the AR is restricted or what it even is.... That's the problem,people need to be educated more on what a AR is.... Nothing more than a semi auto rifle... Same as all the other semi autos only looks different.... I've only been here a year and this and mag limits are the most rediculous things I've seen.

AR to NR? We can dream I suppose. It sure would be awesome if it did happen tho. I dont think even the people that restricted them know why they did it. Just silly things. Mag this is very stupid!
By the way is it true about the .50 beowulf mags being used to higher capacity with .223 being legal?

The same question gets asked when someone sees my T97. Why is that non restricted and why is the AR restricted? Its a real damn shame that people in our community have no faith that we can in fact get the laws changed so that we may use AR's or even handguns with less restrictions. Which ever way is possible. Making the AR non restricted or easing off what we can't do with restricted firearms. Who else would love to hunt with a .44 magnum revolver?
