ok for the polymer pistol guys out there, just bought one & i'm assuming i still take apart & lube it same as a steel gun? any parts i should or shouldn't lube? sorry for the dumb question but i just want to make sure i don't F it up on the first range trip

What pistol do you have? You don't have to worry about the plastic parts, aside from giving them a wipe to remove powder residue. Generally you want a bit oil or grease on the rails, the top front of the barrel [over the bore] and just ahead of the chamber on top of the barrel...it should be easy to see where it rubs.
Did you get an owners manual with the pistol? They should have lubricating instruction...or you can generally find them online in PDF form...just download it and have a read. Then there's always Youtube...

ABSOLUTLY, no such thing as a dumb question !! Only arrogant people would think so ! This is exactly how people learn, by asking questions ! I am 60, I have been shooting all my life and I still ask questions ! Virtually all the pistols I have are all lubed the same way, minimally, but done just the same. They all need to be clean and just a slight layer of some type of lube. Too much is not good for any pistol ! IMHO

On a handgun?? G96 or any good gun oil. WD40 if you have to!
Too much work to use Froglube esp. on a handgun!
Although a lot of the gun is made from polymer, the parts that contact each other such as the
slide to frame rails etc should be metal. Those moving parts are lubed just like any other pistol.
I have had good luck with most lubes on the market. But I have not tried them all.

Pistols are very very picky on lube, I only use unicorn tears on my guns.
Any gun lube works, my god people lol its not rocket science
I've Lieberal tears myself.
