Froglube is OK during hot summer days. Gummy in winter. WD 40 is not a lubricant, but a Water Displacer. Use only as pre-cleaning agent or use at your own risk.
Ballistol, Synthetic Gun Oil, light Synthetic Motor Oil among my preferred lubes.

On a handgun?? G96 or any good gun oil. WD40 if you have to!
Too much work to use Froglube esp. on a handgun!

My basic idea is that when in doubt lube the shiney spots, you can't go wrong lubing where there is contact during firing.

actually i'll be using G96, love the stuff

G96 is a good cleaner but it's not much of a lubricant. It's a thin oil that has low lubricity and will leak out. For slide rails and barrel lugs, use grease (Doesn't have to be a "gun grease"; any decent automotive grease will do. I personally like Mobil 1 red synthetic grease).
