Dan, Qualifiers are not called Classifiers in Ontario.
In nutshell Classifiers determine Classification rankings / upgrading...
What’s the definition of a “classifier” match?
The following criteria must be met:
Minimum match level for all divisions: Level II or higher sanctioned event held in Ontario
Minimum number of competitors in Open/Standard/Production division: 10
Minimum number of competitors in Revolver division: 5
Standard / Open / Production Divisions: Mandatory 1 ‘current’ GM & 1 ‘current’ M
Revolver Division: Mandatory 1 ‘current’ M
QUALIFIER MATCHES
A "Qualifier" match is match is a Level I or higher IPSC sanctioned match where a new Black
Badge student "qualifies" or completes the final requirement of the course. This can only be
done at a sanctioned IPSC match...
Mon frere, I'm talking to a guy from BC with that post, and from that perspective I most certainly am correct.
The matches used to determine your classification are called "Classifiers" in Ontario, and "Qualifiers" in BC. Just a different word, means the same thing.
Besides, old son, I know the Ontario system very well, having badged there in 2004, and made GM in production just this past July.
I'm just talking about the usage of a word. In Ontario, a Qualifier is the first match you shoot after taking your BB course. In BC, it is a level 2, and your average from it is rolled into your average, regardless of whether a GM, M, or even anyone else showed up.
In Ontario a Classifier is what you describe above. IN BC, as near as I can tell, it's a mixed drink involving orange juice and (gag) vermouth.
