A friend of my with a vz 58 was asking me today why he was having problems with pushing a 223 brush through the barrel. With enough force he's able to get the brush to just stick out of the flash enhancer, but can't get it to go through all the way. It's almost like its tapered but that of course couldn't be the case.
I know someone said something about this the other day, but I can't find the post. Any ideas ?

Thanks

I've never taken a F/H off a vz 58, figured it would be torched on.

Derp? are we all talking about the same rifle? It is literally the easiest FH to take off ever. It took all my manly might to get the A2 off my norc AR15 but i take the FH off my VZ easier than i blow my nose. One time i was screwing the NEA heavy brake off of my rifle and it fell on my toe. fvck that hurts like a clown.

Well when I was talking to my buddy I remembered reading a post a few days about with someone having a similar problem, but couldn't remember the answer or find the post. I've never really looked at his F/H and just thought it was either timed like a M/B or just torched on. Plus I just bought one the other day but haven't gotten it yet.
Thanks, I'll let him know.

Good idea to just unscrew the flashider for cleaning or it just gets gummed up with bore cleaner after a while, plus, the threads under the flashider need to be cleaned along with the crown - especially if corrosive ammo is being used. Not such an issue on .223's.

I bought a cheap "universal" cleaning kit months ago before I got my VZ. Seems to work just fine with it. Just got a .308 bore snake yesterday from the gun show and about to find out how good that works. From previous experience, I'm sure it will be awesome. Bore snakes all the way. Double rainbow kinda thing.

...or, judging from all the internet reviews, you could just dump some oil into the barrel and chamber and that'd be good enough :) "It's a VZ 58, dude... it's like, immortal and stuff."

Joking aside, I'm thinking it is kind of immortal. Like SKS/AK-47 immortal. Except lighter. Love this rifle.

Yeah its pretty rugged. I have beaten the balls off of one and have another one that is ready to get tortured.

I finely got fire this for the first time the other day. As I sat down I thought I would tell the old guy a few seats down from me, "I hope you don't mind but this little vz 7.5 is going to be a little load." As he looked over and replied "oh that's ok, it can't be much loader that my 7mm rem." I just smiled and said ok. So... I squeezed the trigger and sent it, and another. As I was checking my target with the binoculars, I heard him replay "oh that is load isn't it?" So I look over, smiled and nodded my head. Man I love this gun!!

I love all my guns/rifles, but if I had to give them all up, I'd keep the VZ 58 for sure. SKS and Mosin would be close, but not quite. Was brainwashed by the army to love the 5.56, but I'm really enjoying the 7.62 stuff. Probably why I loved the C6 GPMG so much... even if I had to carry it.
