Hi,

I have a new to me Post war P38 and I'm having some issues with it. The pistol was sold to me claiming that it needed two recoil springs and guides - fair enough. I was told that I would receive the old (damaged) ones with the pistol (which never happened). The seller told me that the old guides were of the plastic type and were very worn. I just received two steel replacement guides, however, I cannot reassemble the pistol because the slide will not go far enough to the rear to engage the locking block. I suspect that the steel guide are longer than the plastic ones and that length is stopping the slide from going fully back, but I have nothing to compare this with. Can anybody inform me of the length of their plastic guides? I do not wish to start grinding without being 100% certain of the. BTW, both the steel guides are 1.196" in length

Thanks in advance!
