Problem resizing 7WSM

A couple things come to mind when people talk about "once fired" brass.
Although it could well be once fired that doesnt mean that it was all fired out of one rifle.
In a batch of 300 brass cases there's a decent chance some of it was fired from 2 or more rifles in that chambering.

Full length resize the entire batch with die to shellholder contact and I think the problem will be solved.

Also a better shellholder for WSM is an RCBS #43.

WSM brass is a lot harder to resize than RUM brass. That said your press is nothing but junk. Time for something better, in a different color.

problem solved!
looks like my wsm has a tighter chamber than my other 2
with the 300 an 260 i just ramed tje shell in umtil it stops and it worked good
with still about .010 between shellholder and die.
now i just pushed a bit harder to get that .010" with the WSM and now tjey go in
smooth like supposed to. guess i was just afraid of breaking the piece of crap...
as for a new press, as soon as i get a good job like you guys, i'll buy another one.
but now this one enable me to save on shells so i can shoot more. and they all shoot sub-moa so it's all i need.

thanks to all of you who really tried to help me.
for presses dealers,at least that added to your post count... for what it's worth.

I have a couple of custom rifle with minimum SAAMI spec chambers, and most often, standard sizing dies do not size brass fired in a factory chamber enough to allow them to enter the custom one.
I have a set of dies that I modified to allow just about .005" more sizing so this brass can now be used.
OP, looks like you have solved your issue...good stuff!! :)

Great to hear you got it going.
I have one of those little LEE presse's.
They don't spring,they break.
Get a LEE classic cast if your gonna update,it'll catch all your primer's and keep the primer carbon off the ram.
A Classic turret would be my bet.
Set your die's once and forget about it.
Just swap out turret's when you want to change caliber's.Take's a couple second's to do that.
Same about the primer's and their residue.

Every book I've looked at suggests (for all but carbide dies) screwing the sizing die down until it touches the top of the shell holder with the ram raised, then lowering the ram and screwing the die down another half turn or so. The idea seems to be to ensure that the cartridge is completely and fully home.

The extra bit of turn to the die after contact with the shell holder takes the play out of the presses pins and linkage, which would show up as space between the shell holder and die, if you put a piece of unresized brass in the press.

Don't overdo the extra die turning, feel when the play is gone in the cam over stage. Too much and you may bend things. Carbide is more brittle and the extra pressure could crack the sizing insert.

it must be the press i have , cause it sends the primers in a tube
and it uses speed bushing, so once the dies are set, it takes about 10 sec to change caliber. when i upgrade it will be to a turret press. guess i was not used to tight chambers. this one is a savage 16.
other 2 are remingtons.
thank's everyone for helping a newbie LOL!

When you upgrade, I would consider the Forster Co-ax, it has the fastest die changes of all, without shell holders, no turrets to buy, your pre -set dies just slip in. The press is one of the most powerful as well as having the least amount of run-out. It's all steel and once you try one, with it's dual rams, you won't want another. I have no connection with anyone selling them, I have reloaded so much over the years that I have come to know what works and what breaks.

Glad you got it sorted out.

Your press may not be optimal, but you seem to have the problem in hand and that's the most important thing.

Cheers.

Sound's like you have this one.

The alloy LEE use's don't spring much if any.
They work or they crack, and you'll hear it if that happen's.
I had one for year's but sold it at a great price to someone just starting out.
That was 15 year's ago,and he's still using it.
