I thought I could switch barrels between my Win. 120 pump to my semi 140?

After changing barrels everything seemed right on and fired the 140 but action won't cycle!

I was under the impression that all the Win. shotguns barrels could be interchanged, Did I miss something??

What's next.

Check for the gas ports in the barrel ring; not all pump guns have them. If it does, check to see if they line up exactly. They need to line up pretty close to get the right amount of gas to cycle the action. Also, check to make sure that the ammo your using will work the the proper barrel, some light loads won't cycle the action.

GOOD LUCK

I am surprised the barrel from the PUMP actually fit the SEMIAUTO and fired. Most switches like this just don't fit at all. But you are asking a pump shotgun barrel to function like a semi auto barrel, some thing it was not designed for. Why would they bother to put gas ports in a pump shotgun barrel and where would the gas go after it vented out those holes. Like I said, I am surprised it fit and fired. Kind of like substituting a standard transmission in place of an automatic transmission and wondering why it doesn't work in DRIVE. THEY ARE DIFFERENT.

The fit is actually the same from one gun to the other but just like highlander stated it is the gas ports in the barrel ring that makes all the difference.
My 120 can handle the 140 barrel with no problem and no safety issues.
I had a rifled barrel for my 120 and was hoping to hunt deers this fall with a semi; it would've been nice I guess.
Thanks guys for the info!

Thanks guys! This really answers all my questions.

Once again you guys are awesome!

Guess I'll be looking for a fully rifled barrel for my 140! LOL!
