ive got a problem VZ58L
it loves to eat rims off the cases, but doesnt like to extract the case from the breach. the case gets jammed in there.

Ive let Itialian sporting goods have a whirl at it, they polished the chamber for 80 bucks, left it dirty as hell, and it still has FTE's, removing the case rim every other shot. they said it has some pitting towards the throat.

so im looking for other options...
I love to shoot her, but lately i have not been able to. any sugestions?

holy jeeze boys give the forums a search ive got about three post covering this defect.....if its the same as others it a chamber issue, not a cleaning isue or gremlin issue......but definatley reed post and see if it fits your issue i also have photos included
Regards,
Shaky

Not a gas problem- infact it has enought power to rip the rim off the case
doesnt appear to be an ammo issue. tried three different dated cases with the same results, and all of them cycle fine in my cheep norinco sks

Ive sent John at marstar an email to see if it can be fixed.
I am the second owner (the first owner just sold it on the EE rather than dealing with the problem... lucky me). so i dont think that there would be any warranty or obligation for marstar to fix under warranty anyways. but you never know. one can be hopeful that if it a defective chamber, they might make it right?
otherwise im happy to pay for repairs.

ill let you guys know how it goes

Is this one of those barreled actions that was completed with a parts kit?I have heard of the barreled actions having the incorrect bolt locking cam(I think thats what its called)causing headspace issues, which can cause case head seperations etc.

I am so not an expert but would a stiffer piston spring keep the bolt closed a bit longer and allow the pressure to drop a bit before opening the bolt.
Might be easier on the rims.

If you got the chamber polished then it has to be something else. Sounds like you ejector spring is gone. Send me a PM and I'll help you out on this.

I am having similar issues with my VZ 58 in 5.56. 3 or 4 fail to eject in 200 rounds.

Edit: Wolverine has replaced the rifle for me with a new one and it seems to be working just fine. Thanks Wolverine!

Now if that they polished the chamber it should not stick unless the chamber is under sized this is why I think that it is an extractor. But next time please don't take anything tactical to Italian they are great for shotgun's and old rifles but for new or tactical type stuff Reliable is the best place to go that I have found in the lowermainland.
Also did you check out the head space on this rifle?

I was thinking too much gas/sticky lacquer on surplus ammo

I doubt the ammo is the problem.

I had that problem, had the rifle replaced and had the same problem with the replacement...

...Luckily I was able to get my $ back.

Then I bought a CZ858, haven't had that problem since - despite using the same batch of CZ surplus on both rifles.

I wonder if there was a problem with the machining/fabrication of a particular run of those chrome lined barrels.

Hmmm...
I wonder if it's an undersized chamber then.
Is this the barrelled action that Marstar had up for sale a little time ago?

What I bought was a complete rifle, as was its replacement.

Both had the extraction problem.

It was a few years back when they last had their VZ58L shipment...

...it was too bad, I really wanted a chrome barrel.

But I can't complain, I have zero problems with my CZ858 all I have to do is clean thoroughly after each use.

Had the same issue. The chamber was not machined correctly and was undersized. It could not be rectified, so Marstar put a new barrel on it for me.

It is actually a huge problem with the 58Ls.

Rifle was mailed to marstar jan 12th, apparently it has a bad or pitted chamber...
ive phoned them once since it arrived there, and was told they were working on it, but over a month later and still no reply.
i guess its time for a follow up call again.

It is definitely a chamber problem. I'd recommend the cheapest fix is to flex hone it. Problem is: flexhone doesn't make a hone for 7.62x39....only 7.62x51. I have friend that used the X51 hone in his 7.62x39 bbl....worked fine and cured the problems. I'd recommend the 400 grit and the flexhone oil....I think I paid about $32 shipped in the US.....

Apparently, they JUST added 7.62x39....its now listed on the site.

I don't know what the "polish" job entailed that your smith did....but if it didn't include a flexhone....it may cure your problem....depends on how badly the chamber is out of spec. Worst case, you buy it and use it repeatedly....it may eventually eat through the chrome lining....but that would take a long while to remove that much material.

HTH,
Sean
