Problem with 1940 IZH SVT-40

I bought a 1940 IZH SVT-40 and stripped it for cleaning the other day. After taking the trigger group out to inspect it I found that the hammer didn't fall after pulling the trigger until the third try. After I put it all back together, I would still pull the trigger but on the first and second trigger pull it would just click but no hammer fall. On the third it would fall. Any thoughts or help? Do I need a new trigger group?

It's possible that you don't have the trigger group seated all the way. If memory serves, the SVT trigger group needs a good hard smack to get it to fully engage.

Agreed, it takes a good smack to get it to lock in.
