Problem with 858....

Try loading just one round in the mag, put mag in gun and rack the round into the chamber. If it still doesn't fire I would think that your carrier is dragging on your mag follower preventing the lugs from fully locking? But if it is happening with all the mags I think this might be very slim. Maybe try someone elses mags? is there a bunch of crap in/on your mags? Good luck!

I am familiar with the dreaded "Gremlin" of the 858, and this does not sound like it, but seriously, what do you expect with these POS rifles anyway, there complete s**t.;)

There is a re-occurring issue with these rifles, an issue that is so bad that they have a scary name for it, a scary name that when mentioned, every person who owns one (and most who don't) know exactly what the other is talking about, because they have either seen it or experienced it. Why would anyone buy one of these rifles with a rep like that anyway???

IMO when you start making up scary names for the brutal, repetitive, malfunctions that EVERY CZ-858 I have ever seen experiences, it's beyond sad. It's pathetic:rolleyes:

Lol! This guy has no sniff what he's talking about. The "gremlin" only occurs in the civilian version with an un-tabbed carrier. Even still my 858 has been rock solid, and my csa 11.75 even more so.

I agree with the monkey, you have no idea what you are talking about Steve. Thats a pretty bold statement that EVERY 858 has this issue. Get your facts strait before you start flapping your jaw!

I wonder if the last shot hold open is hanging up the bolt/carrier? I have had a few issues with mine, the bottom of the locking lugs in the receiver needed some deburring/polishing to feed brass cased ammo. The frame rails were also to tight on the bolt carrier.

Its ok dgradinaru. I've got 4, so your covered. No problemos with any of them. Kinda wish I did so I could learn to troubleshoot them. Big sigh. Oh well my life goes on anyways.

LOL,that is just to damn funny for the net.

I have 4 CZ/CSA's and have never had a problem (gremlin) with any of them. few FTE but that is it.
POS rifle I think not. If that was the case why would the Czechs put their lives behind them for the past 55 years +???????

I got my CZ-858 rifle for $100 because the person said it was a piece of crap and didn't work. We put the rifle in my name and then I started trying to figure out what was wrong. With in 1hr I had that rifle working mint. I noticed the sear bushing has a big gap in-between the sear and when that was pushed in, It worked fine. The problem was, you could push the sear bushing in and the trigger would work fine for about 4-6 trigger pulls well the sear slowly made its way back. All I did was take the sear pin out, cut the bottom of a fired 9mm brass. placed the brass shim in-between the sear and the sear bushing, and WHAMMO! It worked perfectly. Have never had any problems with it for the 500 or so rounds I've put though it. I love getting stuff for free because someone is too impatient to fix it.

i love mine it has the "gremlin" still one variation anyways. a tabbed bolt carrier will solve the one i have. i also used the shim technique to fix the slop in my sear making a nice solid connection to the disconnect. i like how easy it is to work on and understand the mechanics of it.

I LOVE IT!
