Problem with blurry target.

Instead of swapping the scope, you could just try a long narrow sheet of paper/cardboard, and place in on the barrel, contoured slightly upwards on the edges, and at least as wide as the scope. You'll know instantly if barrel heat is your culprit...plus you can easily make it beforehand.

Edit: looks like Mystic Precision beat me to it. Basically I was suggesting making a very rudimentary (and temporary!) mirage shield.

I just want to cast my doubt on mirage. I’ve had the same problem with higher Mag scopes that don’t have the best glass.

One thing you could try is to just look through your scope a fair bit and not actually fire it. Bet it would blurr out still, I have this with a vortex. It’s seems crisp seems crisp and after a semi long time trying to say focused on the paper it starts to blur out.

I have always found that I am able to see the ‘mirage’ effect EG ‘waves’ weather it’s a hot day, or just head off the truck motor your resting on.

Just my 2 Cents. 24 power is a lot...

I'll bet on focus. Between parallax adjusting, and diopter focusing and your own eye focusing you can get a situation where you can focus for a little while then your own eye blurs out when it can't handle it. Look away and you get a fresh start for awhile. Just a hunch, but you probably aren't 20? Better optics go a long ways toward giving your eye something it can handle.

You could try adjusting your A0 more toward clarity than a perfect no movement reticle and see what happens. I wish that all scopes had those two events happening at the same time but that would be wishing for the moon. That won't cost you anything.

You can eliminate mirage as a cause by leaving the rifle cold and shooting something else first. That won't cost you anything either.

Went out again today, and sure enough, it was barrel heat causing mirage making me lose focus. That was the good news, bad news is my sling stud that my bi-pod mounts on pulled out. Now I get to pull off the action right as I finalized my new load ....
