Hey guys,

I went to the range today and while I was shooting my CZ Shadow, I noticed that my front sight was not as usual. I stopped shooting and realized that my fiber optic rod on my front sight was moving out. I pushed it back in and few rounds later, same thing happened. I have finally been able to fix it back and for now, it seems to hold on. However, I don't like the idea that the same thing could happen during an IPSC match so I want to fix this problem and be a 100% sure that it will stay in place. It's hard to concentrate on your shooting when you don't trust your equipment.

So, what I want to know is did one of you ever had the same problem and how did you fix it? Also, I was looking at Angus Hobdell's shop and I saw that I can buy some replacement fiber optic rod for my CZ so that got me thinking that this problem might be no big deal and it might just be some normal wear. Am I wrong?

Thanks for your help.

It happened to only a few shooters here and there. You have two choices: 1) use a tiny amount of glue to hold it in place; 2) melt both ends of the FO rod that stick out on the sight. 2nd way is better if done right.

As you are at it, check the trigger overtravel screw, they also get loose; get Loctite at Can.Tire, it's the Blue or 242 you need.

Take your slide in to the shop and get them to professionally heat up the front sight rod at both ends and expansion will keep it in place. They don't wear out. I had to do that with my Sig after installing Tru-Glos.

All it takes is a few seconds and a lighter.. they break/wear out all the time.. it's the way they are.. just make sure you get a few replacement rods to use the next time it happens..

if it happens during a match, then you have spares, and it takes 20 seconds to fix..

That sounds good. I thought they went black at the ends if you tried that. I'll remember that.

There is "good" fibre, and "cheap" fibre.. I find that the good stuff will "mushroom" a lot easier, and not "bubble" at the end (if it starts to bubble and burn then it will get black). however i find the cheaper, stuff lasts longer (just harder to melt the ends without bubble/burning it).

just go slow with the lighter, and make sure it does not burn/bubble.
