Problem with Receiver Stud for DA Grizz 12.5" Mag Fed?

Hey all;

I've tried installing a Kicklite collapsable stock on a DA Grizzly 12.5" Mag. Unfortunately I've run into a snag and need help. The threads on the inside of the DA Grizz's Receiver Stud don't fit the new screw included with the new stock. (and the old screw is WAY too long).

Does anybody have a similar problem? Would a new Receiver Stud do the trick? Is there anywhere I can get a new Receiver Stud in Canada? Essentially, it's part # 47 on the diagram...

Thanks!

Careful there. If the collapsed stock combined with the 12.5" barrel turns out to be less than 26" OAL, = PROHIB.

I don't think a REM receiver stud would fit the Griz receiver either. Your best bet would be to find a correct thread and length screw to fit the Griz stud. SpaeNaur is your friend.

Nevermind - googled my answer to that. Thanks, that's probably what I'm going to have to do.

Anyways, here's the rant: Damn half-arsed attentention to standards / tolerances over at that DA factory, changing threads n' screws willy-nilly. Sigh. Ya get what ya pay for I suppose.

Hey all - figured out the problem. The Receiver Stud on the DA Grizzly was a 6mm metric thread on the female end... I just had to get a 6mm threaded metric socket head cap screw to go in there. 80 cents at a specialized fastener store solved the issue. I really appreciate everybody's advice! Cheers!

I'm in the same boat. To the op. Can you kindly post the bolt you specs you ordered from spaeneur? Thanks!

Sorry for the late reply... Unfortunately I didn't go with Spaneur after all there's a local store I went to.

I considered ordering a new Receiver Stud from Brownell's, but the male part of the official Remington Receiver Stud would still be imperial and wouldn't fit into the receiver of the Grizzly itself (as it's still a metric hole). So in the end, I went to Ottawa Fastener Supply (it's in the area) and they were pretty helpful.

Anyways, the Receiver Stud needs a "6mm thread metric socket head cap screw". If there's a fastener store in your area, go talk to them. Try to get the same length as the one that comes with your stock. I pulled the screw out of the kicklite stock and realized that I needed a 70mm length, but if I wanted to put in a single-point sling attachment, I would have had to go with 75mm most likely.

You probably don't want to order 100 of 'em, but for reference, check out this page, print it out, and take it to the fastener store to help you out.

Hey AO thanks for the info . I went to a specialty fastener place called bolt supply brought my receiver stud and they hooked me up with a m6x1-50 socket cap screw. Fits perfect as well! Hope this thread helps others in same boat with their grizzly.

Awesome, I'm glad you guys got yours sorted too... I'm also glad I finally found out about CGN. I never would have figured this out without other CGN people clueing me into the metric / imperial disconnect that can pop up from time to time with Chinese firearms - I'm pretty new to all of this. Hopefully other people in the same boat can find this thread!
