I found out on another site there is an issue with some of the Kimber 8400's and their safety's.

I tried mine and it has the problem!!

The issue is when you work the bolt so its cocked, then you move the safety to the second position so safety on...pull the trigger and then move the safety back to the fire position the gun goes off on its own.

Not so good. I have called Kimber on this and left a message with a manager to call me back because the regular guy there didn't know what to do with me living in Canada?

Will updated when I know what's going on.

No you move from the safety being on to the fire position and the gun fires on its own...I am not pulling the trigger in the fire position.

I am wondering if it has to do though with the trigger being adjusted? I had it adjusted by Corlane Sports. I am not familiar with how they adjust this type of trigger.

I am waiting to hear back on the other site to see if the any of the others had their trigger adjusted, hense the problem.

Sending back to Corlane to have it fixed, and make sure it wasn't a trigger adjustment problem.

The problems have been with the short actions as far as I know. But it is hit a miss, more are ok but a few aren't and need to be fixed.

It started with a guy on 24hr Campfire who took out his new out of the box, unmodified, 8400 300 WSM...he loaded it, chambered a round, decided to adjust something and put the safety into the second position...forgot he had the safety on when he went to fire and pulled the trigger...realized safety was on and switched it off and boom the gun went off.

It seems to be a hit and miss on the guns its affecting however. I know of only a couple so far.

I wouldn't panic, if yours is fine then great.

There isn't anything more on it, I talked too Kimber today and they aren't aware of it so far.

It sounds like a trigger adjustment issue to me. I have a Kimber adjusted to 3lbs with minimum sear engagement and overtravel and no problems.
bigbull

It maybe and it will be fixed right away by Corlane Sports and if that turns out to be the issue I hope that Corlane will cover it as they did the initial trigger adjustment for me.

Contact The Shooting Edge in Calgary, they are a Kimber Master Dealer and may be able to help.
