Hi, This is the second time I have had my 1200 jam after cycling a spent round. The round doesn't jam it is the slide arm bridge that seems to loosen and ride up against the breech bolt slide. (Pics attached)

After the first time this happened I re-tightened the screw on top of the slide arm bridge. After another 10 or so rounds, it jammed again.

What could be causing this? Also, do you think there is enough material in the breech bolt slide to drill and tap two more holes to hold the slide arm bridge securely? Or would this jeopardize the structural integrity of the breech bolt slide?

Any help would be appreciated .

I don't see the firing pin or firing pin spring installed. When you assemble the bolt, the firing pin and spring go ahead of that lip that protrudes upwards to catch the retainer on the back of the firing pin. I don't see how even with the oval hole for the screw, that the retainer plate could move that far forward with the firing pin correctly installed ahead of the lip on the retainer plate?

I've always had mine hold on me and never had it even come lose on my Ranger 120. This is what I base the previous paragraph on, I don't think the bolts or carriers are any different and I don't know whats causing it in your case? Sorry

yeah thats right on the money. Was this shotgun purchased new or used? Maybe the screw is a replacement part and is causing the problem? I've come close to losing that little bugger many times before.

I seem to remember my model 120 only having a small hole, just large enough for the threaded portion of the screw to pass through and into the carrier.

I bought the gun used and I put about 100 rounds through it problem free. I the way it is screwed down right now does not look very strong. I'll try getting a larger screw to fasten it down better.

Thanks Dump Shoot. I just realized this after checking the parts diagram for the 1200. Seems whoever sold me the gun must have put in a different slide arm plate. Also, the screw that is currently holding the plate down is nowhere near the right screw. Now I just need to find a new screw and slide arm bridge plate.

Thanks for all the help everyone.

Dump Shoot nailed it.

The first run of 1200's did not even have a screw holding the slide arm bridge to the bolt.
I had to drill/tap the one I had ( the hardening was only "skin deep", it was easy to grind through the one little spot needed with a Foredom ) just to keep the damn thing together. Serviceable enough gun, but it went down the road for an Ithaca 600 Skeet gun not long after.
