Problems mounting a Bushnell Elite tactical 3200 on a Savage 10FP

Hey guys, last min change for me on the scope idea as I've run int a bit more money to work with.

I purchased a Bushnell legend 5-15x40 scope, haven't mounted it to my rifle but I was looking at getting scope for a bit more money.
I found the Bushnell elite 3200 5-15x40 Tactical on a local gun shop site and was wondering if anybody has had or has this scope?

One thing I do like is the sun shade and the external windage/elevation knobs over the Bushnell legend that I have.
Any comments on this scope?
Any other recommendations?

Look down to the last few posts. I edited my thread as I'm having problems with my Leopold ring/base, savage 10FP rifle and the positioning of the Bushnell Elite 5-15x40 tactical scope.

Well since nobody has anything to say on this scope, I'll keep everybody updates on it.
But I can tell there is a fairly large difference between the Bushnell Legend 5-15x40 and the Bushnell Legend 3200 5-15x40 Tactical.

First I'd say that one thing I really find convenient is the large target turrets on the Elite 3200 model. Adjusting those little tiny target turrets on the Legend was a bit of a pain and I would imagine wouldn't be the best out in the field for example.
Next thing is the labeling on both scopes.
On the Elite 3200, everything is in white labeling and fairly clear, compared to the Legend where everything is marked in a goldish font, yet visable but not as clear IMO.

The elite 3200 comes with a sunshade which is a nice plus, costs a bit more but so far I'm really happy I did the upgrade from the Legend.
I'll be mounting this scope on my rifle next week and getting everything setup so then I'll come back with more of a review.

One thing though, both have the Adjustable objective and that's great but I would wish that the AO would have been in the center of the scope with the windage/elevation turrets for easier visibility.
But overall still a great scope from what I can tell.

I have mine on my 10/22, I know people will say it costs almost as much as the gun, but i won't buy another tacticool knock off from china. This scope has fit the bill for plinking and gophering for me, and well worth the money!

I have the legend and when trying to sight it in found there is very little adjustment.Needed to move point of impact 4 inchs right and 5 inchs up and run out of adjustment well before that.found it had only 1 1/8 turn from full right to full left.It seems way limited to me anyone else have this problem?

I have 2 of those 3200 Elite tacticals...

One on my SPS V in .204 and the other on my custom built 10/22

I love the scope. I plan to buy another one for my Bushmaster Stainless Varminter Special.

Very Clear glass for under 400 bucks. Cant go wrong.

Hey guys, here's an update:

-Got the rifle today
-installed the bipod
-took rifle to Gobles gun and tackle, they installed the scope
-I was told by the worker that the scope elevation is almost maxed out for the downward position, and if I wanted to have more downward adjustment I'd need to buy a 'spacer'.
-Took the rifle to the range today, was shooting far off from center at about 25-30 meters away.


Anybody know what I can do to fix this scope positioning issue? I want the scope properly set so I can adjust the full capability of it, rather then be limited by my rings/mount setup. The scope does not hit the barrel at all, so I don't understand why I can't do any more downward elevation adjustment.


I bought my rifle from Frontier, got a Savage 10FP with Leopold 1-piece ring/base.

Any ideas? please help as I suck at this

On both my guns that I have the Tactical mounted on, I had to put a spacer in the rear base. We cant figure out why, but on both of them, I couldnt get it to bore sight far enough down. Once the spacer was put in, no thicker then the metal on a pop can, all was well for me.

BTW.. Gun looks good

Thanks Merllin, what kind spacer did you get? Do you know where I could get one for my Savage 10FP?

I called another local gun shop and was just told to get higher rings?

Mounted a Bushnell 5x15 tactical on a 6.8mm Rem.700. I really like the target knobs, always returns to centre of target no matter how many clicks are turned. Saves targets as its easy to place 6 to 8 groups on one target.

I just used some aluminum that we had in the guns shop I work at. Cut a small spacer out of it, rolled it with one of the rods we use to make sure the rings are straight, it fit perfect.

It was about the thickness of a pop can and gave me more then of enough MOA to keep the scope in the middle of its adjustment.

I was surprised that I had to do this on 2 different rifles. I heard about the "Ruger hump" or whatever they call it. But I didn't think Id have a problem on the 700 SPS V. So far no problems, that .204 shoots like a laser beam.

Do you know if the shop that mounted your scope lapped the rings?
Leupold rings have those two screws on the back, this allows you to centre the scope on the gun. Once lapped, the rings hold everything a little better and straighter. Your elevation problem might well take a shim to fix but I have never has this problem mounting scopes on Savages. Perhaps the shop used the wrong front (Too high) or wrong rear (Too low) base?

Well as I mentioned I bought the rifle/rings w/bases from Frontier, so it was already installed on the rifle when I got it.
I just took the rifle to the local shop, they made sure they were tight and then just put the scope on and did the bore sight in.


I'm not sure whats up but it's pretty crappy as I was told these rings would work fine with the scope.
If I would have known, I'd save paying the 59.99 for them and just put some cash into a better set or rings/base

I had a similar problem with my 10FPLE (but a different scope)and swiched the rings from Weaver's to Burris signature Zee rings and installed the 20 MOA spacers in the rings. No more problems. Here's a pic of the gun before the new rings.

I have those Leup. bases on a Stevens, don't like them. Put the adjustable windage up front so I wouldn't snag my fat fingers loading ammo. Will replace them soon.

Set the windage on the scope to about the midpoint of the adjustment range,then adjust the windage screws on the base to adjust the windage close to where it needs to be.Then you can do the fine tuning with the scope adjustments.
As far at the vertical adjustment,are the bases standard bases,or are they tapered bases?If they are tapered bases designed for longer range shooting,you can change them out for the standard bases to be able to adjust the point of impact lower.
