Problems with 1000 missing powder

I have finally cured the primer feed problem on the 1000, found a slight burr on the end of the feed trough that was hanging up primers once in a while. I have the new style of powder dispenser with the pull chain attachment and the problem I am having is once in a while no powder is disspensed which results in a bullet stuck in the bore. Do I not have the chain tight enough? With the lever on the powder hopper all the way down and the plate at the bottom of the stroke, I have the chain just taken up slack. Do I need to pull the chain tighter so that the spring contracts a bit? It is very unnerving to say the least and I am sure someone else has gone thru this before and could let me know how to fix it.

Usually, the chain is there only to ensure the through closes fully at the end of the stroke.
Did you check if your swiveling adapter is screwed in deep enough to ensure the empty brass pushes long enough on the internal sleeve to permit full travel of the slider and full alignment with the powder chute? It has to very nearly bottom up. This also flares the cartridge mouth somewhat.
Good luck!
PP.

With the ram at the top of its upward stroke, have a peek at the disk in the Powder measure and see if the cavity you selected is fully over the drop tube. If it's not, you don't have the powder-through die adjusted down far enough to activate the powder measure and move the disk through it's full 'stroke'. As PP said, the chain is there just ensure the measure fully closes at the end of the downward stroke. You're not using the return spring on the measure's activation arm as well, by any chance? If so, don't..that's for the Turret Press (or a single stage), which doesn't use the chain.

I had this problem with my 1000, didn't have the disk sitting right. The powder wasn't getting into the cavety. I too have primer feed problems, I am guarenteed to have 4 or 5 primers feed sidways per 100. I just pop them out and use my hand primer.

Not after the bullet's seated, I trust...?

I think I was short stroking the powder dump. I was going slow on the first batch of reloads and then sped up on the next box. The second box had no misfires in it and I have put the first box aside for now until I can get a bullet puller and remove the bullets. Looking at the powder measure I am going to mount a small micro switch so that when the powder disk is all the way forward a small buzzer will sound so that it will ensure me that I have gone all the way, I know it is silly but for piece of mind until I get used to this machine, hey what the heck.

throw the peice of junk away and get a dillon
Is that the best you can do? Dillons also have trouble with squib loads with some powders (e.g., flake types) and light loads. And some ultra-fine powders (like AA4100) will bind the powder bars. Browse around the Dillon sites for more. They might be better overall - I wouldn't know - but they don't automatically make precise, reliable rounds.

Dougie, get a damned life. Some of us buy Lee for the same reason we buy Norincos. COST! I have heard just as many people at the range #####in about Dillon as they do Lee.

It was just me, I wasn't going all the way done on the handle. I loaded a box of 44 mags last night and before I put a bullet on the case I made sure that there was powder in it, didn't miss any and all is good. New machine to me and I am working out the bugs that I do, not the machines fault.
