Problems with a CZ40P

I ordered a CZ40P from Arms East a little while ago but the pistol has not functioned reliably since I bought it.

What happens is when I fire the slide fails to push the round into the chamber; the slide hits the base of the round and stops. I have to push the slide forward to get it to chamber so essentially what I have is a single shot pistol. However, when I fire the pistol one handed it cycles just fine but it seems like the slide is just barely able to push the round into the chamber.

I've tried adding more oil to the frame, I've also tried less. I've cleaned the magazines but that doesn't seem to work either. I'm out of ideas, should I contact Arms East ask about a repair or replacement?
 
Are u using factory ammo or reloads? Reloads can be a source of aggravation if done by an inexperienced loader and not sized/crimped to original spex. Seems odd as my CZ40P has performed flawlessly and handles anything I feed it. It has tighter tolerances than the service type pistols I have but no problems to date. Well, except that it goes thru too much ammunition but thats not a bad thing!:D

Maybe you should call a gunsmith who specialize in CZ pistols.
It could be a slide stop problem, maybe a magazine, there could be a lot of things what can make that happen.

+1 on that. You can clean and lube your gun 50 times, try a dozen types of ammo, and practice ten different hold techniques, but if you want the gun to function reliably save yourself the frustration and just replace both your recoil and mag springs. If you go on CZ Forum you will see that there are tons of posts with this exact problem with the 40P. The spring solution has been posted there for quite some time and in fact it was from that forum that I was already anticipating that I would have problems with my 40P when I ordered it from AE. Sure enough I did have problems and sure enough the the springs cured it immediately and with all types of ammo.
 
What you want from Wolff (what worked for me) is the 22lb recoil spring and +10% mag springs for a full size CZ75B. The recoil spring will have to be cut down to fit as there is no spring made specifically for the 40P. You might want to start by cutting it to one or two coils longer than your factory spring and see if it goes in. I ended up cutting mine down to pretty much exactly the same length as the factory spring and it works perfectly, although others say they have gone a coil or two longer.

The 22lb spring may sound heavy, but I went with it because CZ uses a 22lb on the SP01 from the factory (which I also have) and I don't find it overly strong even for the milder 9mm. The OEM spring on the 40P is very light, with the result that the slide bottoms more harshly than anything I've felt and absolutely launches the cases due to the high slide speed upon recoil. The 18lb or even 16lb springs are probably stronger than what the 40P comes with, but I can't vouch for their effectiveness in curing the FTFs because I haven't tried them, although I suspect that they too would probably solve the problem in combination with the mag springs (note that in my own gun as well as a friend's even the 22lb recoil spring alone was not enough to completely cure the FTFs, the mag springs were also required).
