Wondering if anyone else has had this same issue.

Picked up three 5/30 CZ brand magazines when I bought my Evo and I'm having issues with them that I'm not having with the two 5/20 round magazines the gun came with.

Unloaded, the magazines will lock into the gun fine. But when they are loaded with 5 rounds, they will not lock into the gun at all if the bolt is closed. If the bolt is open they will lock in or if there is only 4 rounds, they will lock in. And like I said only with the 5/30 magazines and not the others.

Sounds like the mags are pinned to tight. Often they will ‘give’ a bit with use and self resolve. Or you can speed up the process and repin the mags to 5.5 rounds either with new pin or by carefully shaving a bit off the follower. If filing the follower down, do it a bit at a time and test to avoid taking too much off.

I can't repin the magazines due to them being polymer and that the "pinning" process was a large rivet into the front of the magazine that was then ground down.

I took a little sand paper though and sanded a minuscule amount from catch on the magazine. They go in and lock although it takes a good solid smack on the bottom to get them seated.

If you are unable to remove the follower due to the rivet, i’d drill the rivet out, remove the follower and sand it down a bit, then re-revit. Then carefully grind/sand the new rivet head down when finished. Again, careful how much you sand off the follower.

Or or alternatively you could live with it until it likely gave a bit on its own due to usage. My Walther PPQ mags pinned by IRG were like yours. Way to tight and hard to get that last round in. Caused seating issues unless I really slammed them in. Which is not good. But they eventually loosened up enough with use to allow 10th round and easier seating.

Why not remove the rivet entirely and repin them the way the factory 20 rounders were done on the spine?
My manticore mags came from AA riveted in the front, and with enough force could hold an 6th round.
After discussion with the owners they reimbursed me a fair amount and I simply drilled a small hole, fit the pins through the spine and epoxied them in. Works 10 times better and no ugly rivet.

I'll post some pictures comparing factory and my work.

Repinning rivet, if doable, was my first post suggestion.

Here's the factory pin.

And mine on the manticore mags.

All I did was load 5 rounds in, luckily the mags are smoked/transparent so you can see where the follower stops. Marked the location just below, roughly estimate 5.5 rounds(if you want i can roughly measure that distance). The only difference with my pin is that it's through the body of the mag and not through the slot where the bolt catch travels. Call it wishful thinking, if mag capacity is ever repealed..... I thoroughly tested the strength of the rivet and with forceful pushing a 6th round in I was unable to get it to pass the feed lips. Mags operate perfectly as far as I've been able to test.
