Recently picked up a Handigun Model SB2. Barrel is chambered for 30-30 Win. Every 8 or 9 rounds, fired cases become stuck in the chamber, requiring removal with a cleaning rod. No problem with extractor spring, as it ejects most cases about 12 feet behind the shooter. I mentioned this problem to a friend today. and he stated that the same problem occurred with a .223 model at his range last week. Has anyone had a similar experience. The wife really likes this firearm for carrying while out in the woods, but I do not want a unreliable gun in the field. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

If you go to gbo forum, there's a handi rifle section for fixes. The gf had the same problem with her 410, and there are a few different ways to fix it. There's an easy way, but it will only extract after, no 12 foot ejection.

1/2 hour and some super fine emery N oil makes em all better.

Don't know about the 30-30 but I had one in 223 and instructions specifically stated that it wasn't for 5.56 military ammo. I tried it anyways and had the cases stick in the chamber as above. Same results with warm hand loads.
Handi's are the easiest guns to work on... But very few require any work... The chamber polish generally fixes any "sticking" issues... This is a rare problem in a rimmed cartridge, but slightly more common in rimless calibers... I have dozens of Handi's and only encountered a sticky chamber in one .35 Whelen barrel.
I know with mine I had that same issue. mine involved a factory round which might not have been sized correctly, as my chamber was quite tight (I was to find out).
I noticed that the round did not "wobble" when I inserted - it seemed quite snug. I fired the round, and voila...it did not eject. I did not force it and removed with a wood dowel.
That's when I took some measurements of the chamber and some of the unfired casings. I found the should measurements of the casings were not quite the same. Another snug one, which I easily removed fired and ejected without any issue in my 336. That was my experience.
