Problems with M14 Stripper Clip Guide Removal

I am having problems with the removal of the stripper clip guide. I have managed to take out the pin holding it in place, and have been giving it some pretty solid whacks with a mallet from the right side. Does anyone have any suggestions?

with the barrel pointing forward...... you should be hitting it on LEFT side

remember this with most things... pins... and fasteners..... hit it from the Right to make it Tight hit nit from the Left and make it Loose

Just don't tell your gf/wife to turn over onto her side
