I just bought a brand new Norinco M14S last week. The first time I took it to the range it gave me a two round burst. It only did it once out of the 80 rounds that I put through it. I checked the sear and it appears to be functioning, and I checked the firing pin and it flows freely in the bolt as it should. Anyone have an idea of what could be wrong with it?????????

Thanks

Were you firing from a bag rest? It's possible that you've simply had a bounce fire.

I let a five round burst go from an M1 that way a few years ago. Somewhat embarrasing.

I've seen one other Norinco M14 do this. The gun NEVER did it again and both the shooter and I chaulked it up to the gun being sandbagged and shot for groups... We figure that the careful trigger pull that fired the first round resulted in the rifle immediately firing the second round because the shooters finger just happened to apply enough pressure for the second shot...

BOTH rounds were on target, the first was where it was supposed to be and the second was about 6 or 8 inches directly above the first...

Cheers
Jay

I took it to the range again and I put 200 rounds thorough it without any problems. All of the mechanisms are worked fine… It sound like it was a bump fire.

Thanks for your help guys
