Hey all,

Well I finally got out to shoot my Savage .22 and I mounted a Tasco scope on it but it seemed to be slanted a bit and didn't look right. Well after taking a few shots, the rings got loosened and the scope fell right off. I retightened them and then shortly after that, the rings loosened again and the scope came out of the grooves in the rifle. Then I took of the scope and used the sites that come on the gun. After a while, they also loosened.

What should I do? I need something on there to be able to aim and I would prefer a scope but I swear this scope doesn't fit right. It has the grooves and not mounted like my 30-06.

Any help would be good.

Also, how hard is it to put a bipod on my .22? Can anybody recommend something for me that is fairly cheap but good? Is it a good idea to put one on?

Thanks

Yeah I will look into better rings. Can you suggest a brand name or is anything basically good?

As for the swivel stud, I don't have one on my rimfire, what would be another option?

Thanks

I have the Savage 64FSS which is a .22 I am not sure what size the groove is but I am assuming it is 3/8

If it is 3/8 would this be good enough?

Fine, just don't over torque that screw:D and yes drill a tad smaller than the stud treads, and make certain it does not extend to far into the wood and hits the barrel. This is done with the metal removed from the stock, and if you don't have much wood there, use a nut from the inside. You will have to drill a larger hole the depth of the nut, from the inside of the barrel channel for this. If you got aloth a wood, just use the longer stud, and your good to go without the nut from the inside.

I swear those are the same rings that are on my 30-06. I mean, they look the exact same

I will buy those rings then. Also, my stock is synthetic so is it still the same? Drill and then put a screw?
