Took my 3-Gun Winchester Defender to the range today and had the strangest problem. I put a box of 7-1/2 shot through it with no problems. Then put 4 slugs through it. Then the last slug round in the box failed to fire.
The primer on the last slug round looks touched (i.e. there's a tiny dot on it but not a solid primer strike). I didn't try any more shells. I did try that last slug round at least 4 times and I did hear the hammer fall each time.
At home I stripped it all down expecting to find a broken firing pin or possibly a bad hammer spring. Nope. it all looks good to my eye at least at first go over.
I'm planning on cleaning everything up in the ultrasonic tank next week and then trying again.
Anyone have any ideas other than dirt that might have caused it to fail to fire?
