Problems with safety and bolt hold! Help!

Hi, I noticed my safety won't let me engage it until the bolt is moving forward. Is this normal? If not what could be wrong with it?

Also my bolt hold isn't always holding the bolt back 100% of the time. Could this be me or the rifle?

EDIT: I'm thinking it's the rifle. If I remove an empty mag, sometimes it will slam shut. Sometimes even on loaded mags (snap caps). Is there anything I can do about this, or is this something I'll have to bring to a gunsmith?

Thanks

Have a read through the manual, that might help you figure if everything's assembled properly, for example.

That's a bunch of stuff going on there, with yer gun; let's make sure the bases are covered.

Your trigger MUST be cocked in order to function the safety on and off.

Poor function of the bolt stop can be a bent pin, a faulty/soft/deformed bolt stop, a crappy mag follower without enough meat on the bolt hold open tab.

Try another mag. If trying different mags doesn't solve the bolt hold open issue... And it's a new rifle... Maybe it has a warranty?

Alright. So the safety was just extremely stiff. It still is so maybe I just have to work it in. As for the bolt I've gotten used to it and it holds just about every time now.

Thanks for the replies, guys!
