Problems with Savage Stevens Favorite 30G?

I have been attempting to sell a Savage Stevens Favorite 30G in .22 wmr. I have recieved several concerns from people in regards to the pins becoming loose from shooting the .22 wmr cartridge including one gentleman canceling his e-transfer after I had the gun all packaged up and ready to head to the post office. When I asked him why he referenced an article about guys taking original Stevens favourite (such as the 1894 and 1915) and converting them to .22 wmr and having mixed results with pins shooting loose. He then stated he didn’t want to buy it anymore because it was the same design. From what I can find on forms this was never a problem with the new firearms and was only with the older designs and metals used.

My question is has anyone had this happen with their new Savage 30G or even heard of this happening?
 
I had a book by "Mr Single Shot" Frank DeHaas who recommended against .22 WMR in original Favorites (I have one in 32 RF) but can't recall the reason why.

I would assume Savage addressed any design issues or shortcomings with the new model....

Only common problem by quick google search was misfires / firing pins

Was it the pin that retains the barrel or pins in the action that were coming loose?

Another info source would be rimfirecentral - I will check and let you know.

EDIT - no mention of this problem on RFC

BTW your rifle looks in very good condition - is the octagon barrel drilled and tapped?

Thanks for the info. In the forum I was sent someone had made the comment the action would shoot loose in the old Stevens with the larger magnum rounds. They also just talked about screws and pins in general needing to be upgraded to make the .22 wmr work.

The gun is all around in great shape and only has a small wear mark on the stock from me carrying it. I did have it drilled and tapped for a scope rail just under the rear sight. It was nice to have the scope on to get more accuracy out of it but I eventually took it off because i missed the nostalgic feel of open sights.
 
I feel like maybe the potential buyer was just looking for an excuse to get out of the deal. He should have done his research before he committed to buy. I used to have a favorite in 17hmr and it was a pretty sturdy design and Locked up tight. I was never overly impressed with the accuracy and that particular one gave me quite a few misfires. It was hard to find a scope for it that didn't look out of place. Gophers are out now and yours should sell soon. It's also an ideal trappers rifle.

Like a previous post said, the originals, I would never expect to hold up to the additional beating they would take from the WMR.
The modern guns, I have never heard such about at all. While I have not had one of the modern ones to strip down and compare, I have had a fair few, mostly well used examples of the early versions, and soon enough began to see why DeHaas was not prone to hopping them up at all.

I had a Savage Favourite 30M in 22 Mag. Octagon barrel. I am guessing I put 300 or so rounds through it without any issue at all. That one had no provision for mounting a scope - I had installed a Lyman #2 tang sight. A very dainty little rifle. Was my first experience with aperture sights and it shot at least as good as I could aim with it. Only negative that I can recall is that you had to hold the hammer all the way back in order to insert a cleaning rod into the breech end. The butt and forearm were clearly two different species of wood, and very proud of the metal, until I worked them down and re-varnished.
 
Thanks for all the feedback, definitely helped reassure there’s nothing wrong with the gun. As mentioned above I had read something on another forum about someone having firing pin issues, this is something i’ve never experienced myself.
