Process to get ATT added to RPAL

Hi all,
Just returned to the shooting sport world after a 25 year absence, and was wondering what the process is to have my current RPAL changed to accomodate an ATT? I do not currently own any restricted firearms but intend on purchasing one soon. Is the ATT automatically added at the time the handgun is registered, or do I have to contact CFC and ask them to add it?

When you register your first restricted they will send you a new card with a paper with new conditions on it.
