Production Optics Div ???

Looks like you'd have to wait until a dovetail mount comes up for the shadow 2. I'm pretty sure that the slide is machined differently than the sp-01 shadow. I got mine from Springer precision.

Given the sights from a Shadow or Shadow 2 are interchangeable I'd imagine the mount you are using would work.

I'm sure taking into account the needs of the entire world, and not just following what USPSA has done, has some bearing on the final plan for any IPSC division.
Anybody with a vice and a hammer/punch can install a dovetail mounted optic.
Not everyone has a milling machine and the skill to modify a slide.

Having said that, I'd rather have the option to mill a slide.

It seemed the main reason against milling for IPSC in the thread at the GV was they didn't want people milling a slide for a Provisional division only to see the division fail and they've permanently altered a gun.

Yeah but it's kind of funny to see USPSA come up with a new division and IPSC says "hey that looks cool, we want that same division, buuuuuut we're gonna do it completely different" lol.

IPSC has always marched to the beat of their own... whatever....

I'm hoping for PCC to make an appearance and pray they don't mess it up too much.

I attended a couple of matches recently in S.C., (70- 100competitors)
Carry optics is not hugely popular, but PCC really seems to be taking off, especially with the 30-34rd mags.

last match I shot in WA out of 101 shooters 12 were carry optics (incl me) and only 7 PCC.

29/101 Limited
24/101 Open
22/101 Production
12/101 Carry Optics
7/101 PCC
5/101 Single Stack
2/101 Revolver

I'm kind of wondering if carry optics or prod optics will be the future.... Every new gun I see coming out either has an optic mounted or readily accepts them

Popularity will now rise in the US with their new ruling to allow 141.5mm mag length for CO div (alot of people down there did NOT like the 10 round limit of Production)......I think once Jan 1/2018 comes (with a little help from the vote on making it a new IPSC div at Worlds this year) it will be much more popular than otherwise expected to the rest of the world

Just wondering why you would want to run the extra weight of a light on a pistol for this?

I think there might be two reasons

1) to add weight.... Though this doesn't really happen now
2) so that someone can shoot their carry gun in the same condition that they actually carry it

Couldn't they just have specified that the light have a maximum permitted weight instead of banning them altogether?

Matt I think the reason goes back to the idea of hand held lights in a self defense situation. You can't shoot with the light mounted when shooting a dark stage. Too, there remains the concept of an equipment race. If you allow it in Optics then why not allow it in all the pistol divisions. The new rule book only allows military and police to use their duty gear in club events now as well. I have heard to many "LEO's" were showing up at Sanctioned Matches" with minimal "duty wear" as what the detectives might wear etc with their "duty" light attached

I never heard of ant incidences of officers up here seeking some advantage in Canada. Any officers up here that I saw shooting were either in full ERT gear or using their retention holsters and captive mag holders on a duty belt and were not seeking any competitive advantage. All were RCMP officers. I have heard, but not seen, of some questionable use of duty gear in the US.

Take Care

Bob

Yep. I'm not military or LE, but it would be cool if there was a division that would fit anything that could be considered acceptable for military or LE use. So basically Production division, with lights/lasers/whatever legal, practical holsters only, internal aftermarket parts okay.

It's called open division. We don't need a flash light division. If you want lasers and flashlights you are just looking to have fun anyways (nothing wrong with that). Declare open before the next match and have at what you are thinking about doing (within a reasonable limit )
