I cut the recoil tube off of the receiver today. I was advised to cut it at .70 of an inch. I marked at .75, and the final length after sanding, and polishing ended up about .72

Recoil system will be at the post office tomorrow

Okay so today was the install day... some good, some bad came today

First off, I have to thank Simon at S&J Hardware. His service was second to none, taking my phone calls through out the day, and giving advise when everything did not go as well as i had wished. Mark at Elite Tactical Advantage was also a pleasure to deal with.

So i got the package at 10 am, and promptly started on the install.

1. I placed the nut into the rear of the receiver and crimped the recoil tube.

2. I installed the stock, this did not go as smooth as planned, as one nuts from fab defence was metric, and one was imperial.... i needed two metric. I quick stop at the local auto parts store fixed that.

3. The recoil system.... this did not go as planned

So as i learned today, there may be a reason why the Super Magnum barrels only fit that receiver. I have come to the conclusion that the geometry of the supermag must be slightly different than that of the regular 11-87. I believe the mag tube to be slightly angled compared to the regular. This may be to fit the larger chamber, or the slightly thicker barrel

This caused significant binding issues installing the new recoil system at first. I had to do alot more fitting than was initially planned, but thank Simon and Mark for all of their help. In the end, and 7 hours of work, i got the system installed.

This is not a normal install time, as this receiver was different than we figured. Learned something new!

I had to head off at 6 pm, so did not get to fire the gun yet. I was very happy to have it cycle smoothly though.

Still to go
1. fire gun

2. install the top rail

3. Install DMW Easy loader

3. Install +3 mag tube

I think the problem mainly due to the contour of the barrel because you have a 3.5" chamber and obviously the barrel is quite a bit thicker (girth wise) near the receiver where the new recoil mechanism is.

Let me know after you install the DWM carrier, I am still debating should I get this one or the one for the Competition Master.

So far your project looks awesome!;)

so, the range did not go well today...

I should have taken a variety if different ammo with me. My Federal top gun 1180fps did not cycle.

I stopped by WSS after and grabbed 7 differemnt loads, and we will go from there tomorrow.
