As a fairly new Progressive user, Dillon 550, I seem to have about 5 - 10 rounds out of 100, that fail to fit into my chamber checker. Was just wondering if this is normal, or am I getting too many crap rounds.

I am using range brass, head stamp sorted, 9mm, and loading Aim 147 grainers, Lee dies.

Can't say I have ever had this happen with pistol reloads.

I use the same machine with Dillon dies for 9mm, .38Spl / .357mag, .44mag, .40S&W, & .45ACP. I reload a lot and this experience is new to me with pistol brass.

Sorry,

two possibilities. one is that your sizing die is not turned down enough. second possibility is that you are getting "Glocked" brass mixes in. if number one then turn your sizing die till it touched the top of the shell plate with the ram in the up position. if the second one then you will either have to camber check your bullets before shooting (which is always a good idea) or you have to buy an undersized die either Lee or EGW.

I never had this problem when using the Lee FCD....if there is any glock bulge in the brass your picking up, it sizes most of them back to normal, at least that has been my experience.

When you say, "fail to fit into my chamber checker", do you mean that the round gets stuck half way into the chamber check?, or the whole cartridge won`t fit?.....When I chamber check a batch, not all of them easily slip right in, and are totally, absolutely flush.......That`s usually with 45acp or 40 S&W...never had a problem...

That's definately more than then I get with my 650 reloading glock fired 40s&w. Short strokes maybe?

Check the bullet diameter!!!!!

Check the bullet diameter of your Aim projectiles. Had this happen to me with my XD9 and it was the bullets. They ranged from .355 to .356 which both worked but the occasional .357 diameter bullet failed chamber (about 3-5 per 100)... i sent them back...

I am beginning to think this is the problem.....the measurements I have been taking support this.....I bought these mid summer, right around the change over, I have them all loaded up unfortunately, oh well, good skills and drills practice.

I have the same issue and the culprit has always been the bloody cursed Glock bulges. I don't bother using a case gauge any more, I simply use the barrel of the tightest of all my .40 pistols, which is my P-99. Every single time the case hasn't dropped right in (usually hangs up the last 1/8" as mentioned previously), the case exhibits that damned 1/16" raised band on one side of the case.

I shoot better with my buddy's Glock (which I have shot no more than 150 rounds with) than my P-99 which I've put over 4-6k rounds thru. But I will never buy a Glock due to the reason above, not to mention that the damned thing is butt-ugly
