Looking to buy a used progressive reloader and have a couple of questions.
I presently use a MEC junior. Very slow since I have 3 - 4000 rounds to load and have ample amounts of of shot. I have narrowed it down to the MEC 9000 and or the Hornady 366. I plan on loading (for 16yd trap) 7/8 oz around 1280 fps. This is well below the international and ATA max load.

I would like your opinion on which you (skeet, trap and sporting clay shooters) think would be the better of the two and why.

I don't have a lot of experience with the 366 but people who do speak well of them. I have owned a MEC 9000 for 15 years, it works fine and was an easy transition from a Jr. The bottles, bushings and some of the smaller parts interchange.

The MEC requires you pay attention. Make sure the primer has dropped and the bar is in the right place at all times. Otherwise you can experience the joys of picking up pellets from the floor.

What I can also say about MEC is their customer service is excellent. Parts are easy to get and if you run into a problem they are very helpful.

I've loaded several thousand rounds on a MEC 9000G (primarily 20ga), as well as several thousand rounds on MEC single stage machines.

The transition to the 9000s is pretty easy as a lot of things work the same. I love the 9000 for volume. I can crank out 500 practice rounds/hr without trying hard.

When lead was less expensive, I'd start loading up ammo in late winter until I had 2 bird boxes full. Usually this took 3 or 4 nights of loading. This would last me a few months of shooting, and then the reloading would start again.

I have used PW reloaders and find them just super.
The new 2000 solves just about any items that were a complaint years ago.
Web site about 60-80.00 shipping

How easy is it to switch gauges on the 2000? I was considering an 800Plus primarly because of the ease of switching to a different gauge. Is the 2000 the same?

Hi...The quick gauge change unit is the 800 Plus.
While the 2000 can be changed some adjusting will be required each change so defiantly go with the 800 Plus

For the price the 9000G works just fine. If "used", make sure you "see it in action" for 50 to 100 rounds before you part with your cash. No prblems with the one I had right out out of the box, and familiarity with the 600Jr. made adjustment that much easier.

For double the money, or a little more, the PW. I've been on one for the past 10 years. This time of year, I'm generally loading a 5 gallon pail per week.
