As a lucky 12(6)'er, I was wondering what would have been the latest series of imported or otherwise legally in canada, handguns in the small, yet medium to full powered genre? For example, would there be any compact glocks legally in canada in 9mm or .40? I'm sure theres a number of walther style .380's and .32's but I'm interested in full power.

SIG P225 and P228 (9mm), HK P9S (9mm and .45), 1911 Commander, 1000 and 4500 series S&W, and all sorts of revolvers

1911 Commanders aren't "prohibs" - they are "restricted" only as they have 4.25" barrels.... ;)

are there any sig P239's in .40 (or even 9) out there in wonderland, for sale to the civilian shooter in canada? That would be IDEAL for me and mine.

It's illegal to import or sell any newly manufactured prohibs into Canada! You'll have to buy what's ever left on the used market or go for the smaller restricted pistols. Yet Para can make them up her, but not sell them here. Only in Canada!

Just a question. Does prohibited mean that the bullets are more letheal than ones that come out of the barrel of one that is non-prohibited?
Or does it mean that politicians are IDIOTS?

You got it with that last sentence...it was Allan Rock that decided that any handgun with a barrel shorter than 4 1/4" or so was a Saturday Night Special and thus prohibited. They were grandfathered to those who already owned one and prohibited to all others. As we all know there was zero reason for this as all handguns were registered anyway(legal handguns that is). It was just Allan Rock's knee jerk liberalism at work.

Those who refuse to get involved in politics are doomed to be ruled by those who do...

Yes John you are beginning to get the gist of the insane politics here in Canada. Whereas we could legally drive anywhere we want with a long gun sitting right beside us on the seat (as long as it's not loaded), we cannot just drive anywhere with a restricted or prohibited gun. We would need an ATT and most of these are very specific.
So basically they are saying that a .22LR long gun with a 50 shot mag. is much less lethal than a .22LR handgun with a 10 round mag.
What they don't realize is that a madman with a club in his hand is more lethal than both of those.
So yes sir, the politicians are IDIOTS when it comes to making gun policies. They would have you believe that the banning of semi automatic guns will make Canada a safer place to live, and anyone with even half a brain (gun enthusiast or anti) knows this is absolutely false.
Sorry for the rant. It probably belongs in another forum!
