Prohib. Luger p-08 to restricted class ?

For heirloom, this is nearly impossible. Not a direct family member.
Think it is a war trophy because the gun werw bring back by his father

Not impossible because your uncle must be the brother of either your mother or your father and he can transfer it to them. The appropriate parent can then transfer it to you. That means that your parent has to get a RPAL including taking the safety test at a cost of (locally) around $125 for the safety course and $85 (I think) for the license. That is still probably cheaper than the hassles of rebarreling the gun. If your choice is to rebarrel, a person with a dealer's license can transport it to their facility and have a gunsmith rebarrel the action plus destroy the short barrel. The cost of that is probably going to be between $200 and $400 depending on who you select and what their rates are.

almost forgot; while in this case the gun is easily considered a war trophy, section 12(7) only requires that a gun be made before the end of hostilities. Whether or not it was ever used in war and how it arrived in Canada is unimportant.

Sounds like an "uncle" not an uncle if you know what I mean........
Good to know about the pedigree requirements.

PLEASE don't destroy the historical integrity of this rig by rebarreling it! Sell the rig and use the $ to purchase another that has already been rebarreled... Check out lugercollector.com.... Peter is a good guy, based in Montreal, and will do you right!

I agree somewhat but by the time the last 12(6) prohib guy dies all those prohib Lugers will be destroyed which in the end is an even bigger travesty. I have a 12(6) luger and often think of getting it rebarreled so any Canadian restricted PAL holder could own and enjoy shooting it for a long time, even after I am gone.

No uncles for 12(7). Your da can inherit it and you can from him. Either way, you uncle will have to deal with the barrel change. You can't take possession to do anything(including selling it) with it.

Not so...

I have QUITE the 12(6) collection as 12(7) pieces... I'm able to pass these on to my sons, so they'll have these 12(7) pistols too... These will exist as long as rules don't change and those in my line keep getting their RPAL... That's why I started collecting 12(6) pistols in the first place.
