I have a S&W 5906 that I want to have rebarreled to restricted. I have contacted Bits of Pieces numerous times and it seems like I'm getting nowhere. Anyone know where I can get this work done? I already tried Murray Charlton but he doesn't do it anymore.

Bumping for interest. My dad has 2 Walther PPK's that I'd like to get rebarreled and I haven't come across a thread here that really goes through the ins and outs of this process.
If anyone could weigh in on this topic, it would be much appreciated. I'm wondering:
1) Can anyone recommend a good gunsmith in the GVRD that could make this happen?
2) What steps do I (or my dad I suppose) need to take to get the pistols reclassified once the work is done?

What about Dlask. Buddy of mine got his 1912 Luger rebarreled there.
Bits of Pieces eventually gets around to it.
They made up a barrel for me. It took over two years for him to do it though. I was just getting ready to tackle making one up myself when they called. The price was almost double what the original quote was though. I have no idea if he is making up the barrels onsite or if he is jobbing them out. Likely the latter.
He wanted me to send the pistol to him for final fitting. No extra charge and he would mail it back at his cost. I declined his offer as I wanted to fit the barrel myself. I wanted a very tight lock up on my M39 because they seem to function more reliably that way.
The fitting turned out to be almost minimal. It is also a very accurate barrel.
You really need to ask yourself if the value of your pistol is worth what it will cost you to rebarrel it. You're likely looking at over $450 for the M59. Rebarreling a P08 or Revolver is much more straight forward. The P08 barrel mentioned is just a quick job on the lathe to get the proper contour and length as well as threading and indexing, if you cut the front sight dovetail before you install the barrel. Very similar to rebarreling a rifle.

Called Dlask today and their gunsmith said no problem to rebarrel a PPK, apparently they've done quite a few of them. They also take care of paperwork needed to reclassify the pistol as restricted. So now I'll have a compact pistol with about an inch and a half of extra barrel hangin out the end, but at least I'll be able to shoot it!

Supposedly Bits of Pieces here in BC does it. He has new barrels machined for him occasionally. The trick is to actually getting him to do it. I contacted him by e-mail and phone multiple times and he said he could do it but was waiting on the barrels being made. Months turned to a year and I got tired of hearing the same run around. If anyone knows anyone else who does it out west here or even in any province I guess I'd like to hear. Thanks.
