You could just buy a Makarov - they were imported in 9 mak and 380 with pinochio barrels from the factory.

Has anyone performed a similar conversion procedure for a gun in the states? I have my eye on a cz83 in .380. Would it have to have the conversion work done there before being shipped to Irunguns or is there another way?

It can't enter the country for civilian sale with a prohib description (ie barrel length), it would need to get its work done in the US before entering Canada, or enter as a receiver and slide. Your best bet would be to get the work done in the US and bring it in as a complete, restricted pistol.

If you see a prohib gun in USA you like, you could order a 106mm barrel (assuming it's available) and outfits like Irunguns will switch out barrels prior to importing to Canada. Irunguns also pins mags to 10 rounds for you too.

PPQ's look great with a 106 mm Jarvis Barrel vs the long threaded one
