Prohib ####

Here is the little .22 Short Beretta to which I owe my 12(6) grandfathered status:

The only reason I had it registered to me at the critical time it is that the friend who owned it got in a spot of legal trouble and was obliged to divest himself of it. He transferred it to me on the understanding that, in due course when he could legally own it again, it would go back to him. When the current prohibited firearms rules came into effect, I had been registered owner of it long enough to get 12(6) status ....... and he was SOL, of course .....

As a result of being grandfathered for 12(6), I have even had a few prohibited handguns simply given to me ..... including this gorgeous little .32 Spl. S&W -

I shot one just like that out at Mick's place out on the #41 in the early 80's. Grant knows who I'm talking about.
Noisy as hell, and totally inaccurate...but what do you expect?
Might even be the very same piece, lol

You sure about the production year?

C68 came in '95.

C-68 was introduced in 1995 but came into effect gradually as regulations were added etc., I think the magic date for total oppression is December 1, 1998. I wasn't really paying attention then, but I suspect there was an early end to imports, since everyone knew what the law would be. Definitely nothing post-98 in Prohib available for civilian purchase, though the boys with firearms business licenses, etc. are still importing cool toys for their own entertainment.

Common sense gun laws would eliminate 12(6) if I had anything to say about it. A handgun would be a handgun. I suspect that request will be in my letter to Santa next year, again.
