Prohibited Ammo in Canada

We met with NRCAN in Ottawa on this subject a few years ago and frangible was discussed.

NRCAN stated that the reason it was unable to be authorization (aka banned) is because one forensics tech for a police agency expressed concern that the use of frangible ammo in a crime would prevent standard ballistic techniques such as ballistic fingerprinting from being used.

yes this is also what i got from them, which you have to wonder, how often is it actually done that way? i doubt that many crimes are resolved like that, and quite frankly its a pretty moot point

I know of at least 4 cases where the reloading components (frangible bullets) have been imported to Canada without issue. It is not written into law that these rounds are under the prohibited list yet.

Exactly - just got word from the CFO today as well. CanAm you are right - this ammunition is not on any prohib list. Thank goodness!

I always thought that 10mm Tungsten Dowels enveloped in Lead and then painted or Copper plated would be cool.

.44 Special @ 500gr @ 610fps.

Not A.P. but just nice and heavy.

You could go pick up the dowel and load another. Hah. 😁
