Thanks for the kind compliment. I used to fire them all the time! I remember when they were all non-restricted, pre-c68. We've come a loooong way you since then,and very little of it for the better. Ifor something doesn't change these will all end up as inert chunks of wall-hanger steel,, wood, aluminum and plastic. My estate has directions to have them all Deactivated and sold with proceeds to the estate upon my death. Quite frankly, that is the only way to extract some of the value back out of them in this silly environment that we have nowadays. Sad, for sure!
 
As sad as dewating may seem, if no other choice is available, a dewat is always better than a smelter.
Man that G3, i wish i lived in Edmonton so i could pay you a six pack and chat around around it.
 
I hate that people own these fine firearms, and cannot get a permit to transport them to the range.

Could they not be exported to other countries instead of being deactivated? Or is that to much of a hassle?
I admit I'm not up on my prohibited laws as I am discriminated against by age

Just a thought, but maybe I could get some 'use' out of my C1A1 by offering, for say, a six pack of decent beer, the opportunity for non-prohibs to drop by and check it out...

I get to shoot one at my own whim in the service once a year at least sometimes more in my current location/posting.
It may very well be the last functional/operational FN C1 in the CAF but it's there and put to use.
I won't say more than that on here.

That being said, I'll take my M14 any day over the FAL.
Trigger break and pull, trigger slap, accuracy, mag release and felt recoil/follow up shots are 100% better with the M14 but that's just first hand personal preference I guess.
Would take the M14 any day now after firing both extensively and recently. But would still love to own both regardless if that makes any sense.

Don't mind me, but that made me laugh like hell.

I ditched my C/A Boat Anchors long ago and all I have left are my beloved FAL's.

I really miss shooting my L1's and C1's,,,, some day, maybe,,,, heres hoping,,,, but I won't hold my breath.

Now, they are just shooting dust in the back of my safe and I rarely pull them out.

Me too and "Ditto" with the bayonet as they where crunching them at the end just after the C7's landed.

APC's in North Bay made sprocket jam with them if you can believe that.

I have seen APC's used for destruction on C1's, C2's, No4 MK1's and numerous outdated radio equipment.

Then came the realization that no one had enough spare parts in the system to keep the Ranger's No4's going.

They had to go and buy British surplus No4 parts on the open market.

What a complete disaster that was.

My buddy that I did Basic with stayed in long after I left the Forces.

He was a Weapons Tech for over 27 years.

Your FNC1A1 brings back a lot of memories, shot on the Battalion rifle team one summer C1 and C2 and carried that or a GPMG (1943 Singer Sewing Machine Co. built!) most of my enlistment. Saw a few busted on jumps when they'd hit the ground on summer jumps but a very tough rifle plus accurate. Our training for the Combat Group Competition was from 100 to 500 yards in various positions. 1973-1977 1st Batt. PPCLI and 2 CDO CAR
 
My C1A1 sits in the safe with my Israeli FnFal just collecting dust ...I have already dewatted 3 c/a firearms mg42,mg34 and a bren mk1m thinking next will be the fns and the Vickers and the mp44 I'll leave the sten alone just to keep the class up ....too much money sitting there doing nothing
