The stupid gun-hating Liberals deliberately designed Bill C68 to eliminate what they believed to be firearm's commonly referred to as "Saturday night specials." Not stopping at so-called easily concealed pocket pistols, Bill C68 legislation created a huge class of now "prohibited class" pistols & revolvers.
The Conservative-in-name -only party, who held majority government for 6 years pledged to re-write Bill C68 and instead did little to help gun owners. That included allowing 2 private members gun reform bills to die unsupported.
A question was raised about no new prohibited class firearms in the registry or imported. The federal government will not allow any new prohibited class firearms into the registry with one exception.
The government CAN allow new prohibited firearms they import into the registry. Best example is CBSA's duty firearm, the Beretta PX4. It is a short barrelled, less than 105mm handgun.

If a person does not have a grandfathered prohibited endorsement, the only way to get one is for a person with restricted to acquire a pre-'46 family handgun. Non-family prohibited handguns cannot be acquired.
If a person owns 12-6 handguns, they can be transported the same way as a restricted firearm can be transported.
Prohibited longarms (12-2/3/4/5) cannot be taken to a range and shot there, with very few exceptions.
When the prohibited classifications were established, the intent was immediate confiscation. Then the possibility of having to pay compensation reared its ugly head. So the grandfathering system was established so that there would be slow and steady elimination of these firearms. Prohibition affected about 2/3 of the firearms that were registered at the time of implementation.

If Wendy truly had her way? Not only would everything have been confiscated WITHOUT compensation but she would've thrown all gun owners in mental hospitals because she's deranged. Apparently she lost her dad to suicide when he blew his own brains out and has sought to punish the rest of us for something not a single one of us had a f***ing thing to do with. So now we know a little more about why she is ruthlessly crusading to have every weapon taken away and establish a bubble-wrap state.
