How should one go about getting a prohibited Licence? Any thought or suggestions?
I have had a restricted one for many years but have come across some items that would have been great to purchase but were prohibited.

Can't do it. You have to be grandfathered to own any prohib stuff. If you didn't own and continue to own prohib stuff in that class of firearm before they were banned, you can't get em anymore. With the exception of prohib handguns, none can be taken anywhere to be used anyway.

you cannot "get" a prohibited license. You would have had to own one before they where prohibited, and get grandfathered in to keep it.

First, get your DeLorean up to 88 mph............

It depends who you know and what connections you have.

I know of someone who has aquired a prohib licence in the last few years, but it is rare and there is no official way to do it. The person I am refering to is a range officer at a gun club that shall remain nameless, he has years of experience as a firearms instructor and verifier. A member turned in an illegal prohib pistol to him (a horrible little .22 revolver, with about a 10lb of trigger pull). Rather than destroy the pistol he contacted the RCMP and convinced them to grant him a prohib licence to keep the revolver for "educational purposes".

I also met a retired "E Division" RCMP officer once who had an awsome gun collection. After talking to him for a while he mentioned that his retirement gift, from his boss, was a concealled carry permit.

But for us average Joe's .... it's going top be 99.999999999% that we will never get a prohibited license that includes CCW Permit. :(

There is a way for businesses to get one but I'm not certain of the process.

I think it is possible for a business to get one but I asked a large local dealer in my area who does not have one and he said it wasn't possible. I have not looked into it further than that.

There are two ways to get a prohibited licence, not counting being grandfathered. You can get a prohibited business firearms licence for things like movie props or sales to LE/MIL though this licence does not allow you to own prohibited firearms personally, or you can get a 12.7 prohibited licence by inheriting a 12.6 prohibited firearm (short barreled pistol) manufactured before 1946. The 12.7 does not allow you to purchase additional 12.6 firearms.

If you can obviously write, You must be a little low on comprehension. Look up the word prohibited in the dictionary. If you could get one just for asking, then it wouldn't prohibited. Besides "can I get a prohib licence" questions are reserved for Mondays only, (or is it Tuesdays). In any case it's a semi official rule

This is nepotism and corruption, my family left the Former Soviet Union escaping from this, only to come to a place where it happens, but people are more obvious to it.

Maybe if you ask really nice they will give you one . I am sure no one else wants a prohib around here so they will probably make one exception . Grandfathered yes , inherit /marry for a 12.7 yes , buy a firearms business yep(for the business not personal), become a police/ active duty military ... maybe . Work for the cfo and buy timmies coffee for 40 years , maybe. Average joe who likes the price and look of a prohib, see overkills post .

I think it's a teaser to put the applying for a prohib license box on the PAL application form personally ( i realise why it is there but wonder how many guys check it thinking they can get one ) . If you owned one prior to 199? and have kept your license and registration up to date then you can buy more of the same. If you inherit one that has been legally registered the entire time from a spouse or a relative you can get a license to possess that gun but not buy others. There are provisions for carriers and business' (but not for private ownership) to gain a license in some cases. Perhaps an antique is what you are looking for, although like anything they are most often pricey if you want to own something that is like the scary guns but which you can own with basic licensing (or not depending)
