Project guns - Savage Pump and Rem single shot!! update 4/4/10!

Grizzly's I must say are total s*it. I disliked the one I bought, it actually malfunctioned and refused to extract. Pfft. Same as "We-scr*w-you-rinco"

Congrats on your projects

This is what you should use to cut barrels if you don't have access to a lathe.

OK the 16 ga is done! I am going to get a sling still, and fill in the hole. as mentioned before I painted the steel matte black with BBQ paint and the wood with wood stain. Looks cool! WD40 stains are very present though...

Now i have to find slugs and go to the range with a sheet of plywood. I'll post a video of me shooting the sh!t out of it!!

The beauty of that Brazilian shotgun (Remington-contract shotguns to Brazil were also labelled "CBC", ironically enough! :p ) is that the "barrel-break" release is located just in front of the trigger guard, not on the "tang-position" where it can jump back and "bite" you hand when firing it modified to a pistol-grip....:D

Yours looks plenty nice now  (mine is 12 guage, btw) - sadly, mine lacks the sling-pieces....:(

cutting shotgun barrels

I have a large pipe cutter (the two roller/one round wheel cutting blade, screw down type) that I use for cutting shotgun barrels.

I also have another one that I replaced the cutting wheel with a roller, so that it has three rollers. With it, you can (with careful use and lots of measurements), actually form the choke back into the barrel.

Works like a charm. You can have a 20 inch FULL choke if you want to.
.

I dont understand , Is this type of project legal? I thought after modifying a firearm you had to notify authorities (chief of firearms) , is the firearm concidered restricted? I'm looking to buy a short shotgun but i want a stock on it , it's mainly for canoeing , camping and hiking.

Can some one message me and let me know about the details and steps I have to go through to saw off a shotgun. (barrel only)

thanks

thank god someone here still knows how to do something right! I hate half assing , and to me , hack saw just screams half ass. A lathe , hydraulic pipe cutter or hydraulic band saw would be ideal for a 90 degree cut. The ream it off with a hydraulic reamer or manual reamer.

I understand that pipe cutters work well if, and only if, the walls of the barrel are perfectly parallel. If they taper, as many do, you end up with cool spiral engraving.

The lathe would be best, of course, but not everyone is lucky enough to have access to a machine shop.
